Short Description

Mars is a harsh desert planet, shaped by the remnants of a once mighty civilization
Centuries ago, this civilization was destroyed by an insectoid race from the planet’s interior. Today their descendants, the Kethril, live as nomadic tribes and wage
a constant guerrilla war against the insects.

Environment

The Martian surface is a harsh terrain, dominated by endless red deserts, rugged rock formations and icy valleys. Dust storms sweep across the landscape and conceal the abandoned ruins of a once thriving culture. The scarcity of water sources and the extreme temperature fluctuations—from scorching hot by day to bitterly cold at night—make Mars a hostile environment. Yet beneath the planet’s red dust lie gigantic, labyrinthine tunnel systems that span kilometers into the depths and are home to the dangerous insectoids.

Settlement

The current inhabitants of Mars, the Kethril, are nomadic tribes who have offered their help to human researchers. These descendants of a once-thriving high culture are robust and resilient survivalists who withstand the planet’s extreme conditions. They are of slender build and have gray-green skin covered with scaly plates. Their dark eye sockets, narrow nasal slits and sharp, movable ears give them an exotic appearance. Long, thin fingers end in sharp claws that they can skillfully use in work and in combat.

The Kethril speak a clicking language that is difficult for human ears to understand, yet their abilities in handling the native animals and the use of ancient technologies are impressive. They breed exotic animals for food, clothing, mounts, and pack animals, and have deep knowledge of the technology of their ancestors, enabling them to repair and use ancient machines and artifacts.

Special Features

The Kethril have allied themselves with the human researchers to decipher the secrets of their ancestors and regain their old strength. This alliance is a hope for a new balance in the endless fight against the insectoid Na’arn. The Na’arn are the greatest threat on Mars. These insect-like creatures are human-sized, fast, and extremely dangerous. Some have wings, others possess sharp claws and teeth. They live in the gigantic underground tunnel systems and dominate the planet’s surface, always in search of new food sources.

The human researchers and their Kethril allies wage an unrelenting fight against these creatures. They continually face new challenges and dangers, but their determination remains unbroken. The discoveries and secrets they uncover on Mars have the potential to change the fate of humanity forever. Mars is a world full of conflicts and mysteries—a landscape of extremes that holds great dangers, but also incredible discoveries.

Long Text

The surface of Mars is a rough, inhospitable terrain, shaped by red deserts and icy valleys. But it is not the surface that fascinates the explorers, but what lies beneath it. Beneath the planet’s red dust lie the remnants of an ancient civilization, whose descendants, the Kethril, still roam the Mars deserts.

They are nomadic tribes that have joined the human researchers.
Hardy survivors who can withstand the harshest conditions.
They are an indigenous race that once brought forth a flourishing high culture here. But at some point their civilization collapsed under the pressure of a war with another species, and they became nomads who rely on animal husbandry and their gathering abilities to survive.

The Kethril are of slender build and have gray-green skin covered with scaly plates. Their eyes are surrounded by dark eye sockets and their nose is only a narrow furrow on their face. They have pointed ears that they can move independently, and long, thin fingers ending in sharp claws. The Kethril speak a clicking language that is difficult for human ears to understand.

They are masters of dealing with animals and have a special connection to the exotic beings that live on Mars. They breed these animals not only for their food and clothing, but also as mounts and pack animals. Despite their simple way of life, the Kethril have a deep understanding of the technology of their ancestors and are able to repair and use ancient technologies and artifacts. They have allied with humans and help them decipher the secrets of their ancestors. In them, the Kethril see their chance to defend themselves against their old adversaries and return to their former glory. For the planet is not only threatened by sandstorms and icy cold, but also by the insects. These creatures are huge, fast, and dangerous. Some have wings, others have sharp claws and teeth. They live in gigantic, labyrinthine tunnel systems that extend kilometers below the surface. The insects have a firm grip on the planet’s surface and are always on the lookout for new food sources.

The human researchers and their allies wage an unrelenting battle against the insects to unravel the secrets of the ancient civilization. In doing so, they repeatedly encounter new challenges and dangers. But they do not give up, for they know that the discoveries they make on Mars could change the fate of humanity forever.
