Normally the journey between the planets, with nothing but rocket propulsion
months up to several years. Therefore, especially the outer planets were long considered hard to reach.
That was, until Captain Michael Faraday of the Commonwealth Trading Company made the power of Flux usable.
Flux are energetic currents between the planets that can accelerate objects by several times. That had been known for a long time, but all ships kept away from it, as
the acceleration forces were hard on humans and ships would simply tear apart at some point
That changed, when Captain Faraday, with his interest in magomechanics, developed the so-called
Flux-Compensators. These are special acceleration compensators that use gravitational fields to stabilize the ship hulls and protect people from the
acceleration forces.
Since then, appropriately trained crews with appropriately equipped ships can enter a so-called drift. That means they fly with appropriate maneuvers into
a Flux that flows past the desired target, in order to leave it there again. As a result, journeys between the inner worlds take only days, and even to the outer worlds one spends only weeks to at most months traveling.
Moreover, it enables the collection of a special liquid, the Flux condensate, which is particularly popular in AllChemie and also in magomechanics.
